Popular gospel artiste, Busola Oke, has opened up about her financial struggles, revealing that she is weighed down by debt, emotional distress and is contemplating stepping away from the music scene.
The visibly distraught singer broke down during a recent live session on TikTok, where she spoke candidly about the harsh realities of sustaining a career in gospel music without stable financial backing.
In a separate interview with actress Biola Bayo, shared via Instagram on Wednesday, Oke attributed her emotional outburst to prolonged loneliness, depression and mounting financial pressure.
She disclosed that she has been without a personal vehicle since 2020 and is currently indebted to several people, adding that she has struggled to meet basic needs, including accommodation and feeding.
According to her, she had kept her challenges private for years to avoid public pity or ridicule but eventually reached a breaking point.
“I broke down during my live video because I felt alone, depressed, frustrated and hungry.
“I am not used to seeking help from people, so I kept my struggles to myself since 2020. I didn’t want anyone to mock or pity me. I know many people, yet no one came to my aid,” she said.
Oke further revealed that she once found it difficult to pay her N1m annual rent and at a time could barely afford food.
She added that she currently resides in a hotel, where she struggles to settle bills, stressing that she urgently needs stable accommodation and a vehicle, even if it is an old one.
“The last time I owned a car was in 2020. I am heavily indebted and need to clear my debts. I use the little money meant for food to pay for Uber rides. I just need shelter and a car, even if it’s a jalopy,” she lamented.
