The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, though not a member of the APC, works for the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Basiru credited the minister’s efforts for the infrastructural transformation witnessed across the FCT over the past two and a half years, which he said contributed significantly to the party’s success in the recent local government elections.
He noted that the improvements were visible not only in the capital’s urban areas but also in suburban communities, describing Wike’s performance as “sterling.”
Basiru further explained that the minister’s administrative initiatives, combined with the APC’s strategic candidate selection and outreach across multiple political parties, played a pivotal role in securing electoral victories in the FCT.
He emphasised that the effective delivery of democratic dividends under the current FCT administration was inseparable from the APC’s success at the polls.
“Wike is not a member of our party, but he works for an APC government headed by Tinubu.”
“The infrastructural development in the FCT, spanning urban and suburban areas, demonstrates his sterling performance. Combined with our party’s careful candidate selection and strategic engagements, this has significantly contributed to our victory in the FCT local government elections,” Basiru said.
“So, the efficient administration and deployment of democracy’s dividends in the FCT under the current minister cannot be separated from the APC’s electoral success in that election.”
