The Senate of Federal University Dutse in Jigawa State has approved the expulsion of 20 students and the suspension of 15 others for their involvement in examination malpractice.
The decision was disclosed in a statement signed by the institution’s Director of Academic Affairs, Nora Dannatta, and made available in Dutse on Wednesday by the Director of Public Affairs, Abdullahi Yahaya-Bello.
According to the statement, the disciplinary measures followed the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct relating to the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session.
The statement further revealed that the Senate cleared two students of wrongdoing after reviewing their cases, while three others were issued written warnings.
It added that the sanctions were applied in line with the university’s regulations guiding offences and penalties for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
“The affected students were drawn from different faculties and departments of the university,” the statement partly read.
In a related development earlier reported by PUNCH Online, the University of Abuja expelled 28 students over various offences, including cult-related activities, examination malpractice, drug possession and threats to life.
The institution said investigations found the students guilty of serious misconduct such as assault, conspiracy, burglary, theft, falsification of ‘O’ Level results uploaded on the university admission portal, and possession as well as use of hard drugs.
