Popular comedian and social media content creator, Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident occurred beneath the Sango-Ota bridge on Sunday afternoon, although the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, disclosed that the comedian was injured while filming a comedy skit at the location.
According to the source, the entertainer was quickly rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he received initial medical attention.
Efforts by PUNCH to obtain comments from the hospital were unsuccessful as calls placed to the contact numbers listed on its social media platforms did not connect. A text message sent to the facility had yet to be responded to as of the time this report was filed.
When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development, noting that the police were alerted by the hospital after the injured victim was brought in.
She explained that detectives and a patrol team were immediately dispatched to the hospital following the report.
“The hospital informed the police that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility.
“Our detectives and patrol team promptly visited the hospital where they found the victim, identified as a skit maker and social media influencer known as Broda Shaggy.”
“He was on a stretcher with a gunshot wound on his thigh. However, the incident occurred in Sango-Ota and falls outside our jurisdiction, though investigations are ongoing,” Adebisi said.
Reacting to the development, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the alleged incident had not been officially reported to the command.
“The shooting was said to have occurred in Ogun State, but no such incident has been reported to us,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the comedian’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, did not respond to several calls placed to his phone.
A text message sent to him had yet to receive a reply as of press time.
PUNCH Metro recalls that in October 2024, another content creator, Afeez Ojesanmi, popularly known as Salo, was reportedly attacked by robbers and shot while being dispossessed of his jewellery around the Lekki axis of Lagos.
