Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has called on Nigerians to rally behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as a viable platform to address the nation’s deepening challenges.
Okonkwo, who recently aligned himself with the ADC, said his decision was informed by the party’s constitutional focus on the welfare of Nigerians.
Speaking in a video shared on his X page, he said, “I joined this great party because its constitution is committed to the welfare of our nation and its people.”
The former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign highlighted the nation’s struggles with insecurity and poor governance, adding that the ADC was stepping up to provide solutions.
“This country has endured a lot due to the insecurity of its citizens, and the ADC is here to rescue Nigerians,” he stated.
Okonkwo described his move to the party as part of a broader effort to reposition Nigeria and urged citizens to support the initiative. “I joined ADC as part of the rescue team, and I’m urging all Nigerians to come on board so we can save our country from imminent collapse,” he said.
He also warned that the nation would not survive another four years under the current conditions, citing rising fuel prices, insecurity, corruption, and governance failures.
“We cannot endure another four years of fuel scarcity, insecurity, corruption, and incompetence. Nigeria is now a laughing stock globally,” he added.
Okonkwo further criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the country’s survival could be at risk if the current leadership remained in power.
“ADC is here to rescue Nigeria. We may not survive another term of APC’s incompetence and corruption,” he said.
