Troops of Operation Safe Haven have thwarted a kidnapping attempt and rescued a cleric in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident was disclosed on Saturday by a security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post shared on X.
According to the post, the attempted abduction occurred in the early hours of March 14 when suspected kidnappers reportedly stormed the residence of a cleric, Rev. Nuhu Anche, in Ningishe Village with the intention of abducting him.
Makama stated that troops stationed at Ungwan Gora swiftly responded after receiving a distress call over the attack.
The troops were said to have mobilised to the scene immediately, disrupting the operation and forcing the suspected kidnappers to flee without taking the victim.
A security source was quoted as saying that the prompt intervention of the troops compelled the assailants to abandon the operation and escape from the area.
The cleric, who is affiliated with the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ, was rescued during the operation.
He was subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Gwantu for medical attention following the incident.
Meanwhile, security operatives have reportedly intensified patrols and surveillance in surrounding communities to forestall further criminal activities.
