Suspected bandits have kidnapped two female travellers in Bacita, a community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident occurred on Monday when the commercial vehicle conveying the victims reportedly broke down in the area following a mechanical fault, leaving passengers stranded.

Sources within the security network revealed that the vehicle was travelling from Niger State to Osun State before developing a fault at Bacita Junction.

The situation was said to have been exploited by the assailants, who allegedly whisked away the two women amid the confusion.

Findings indicated that operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Bacita have intensified efforts to secure the victims’ release.

The agency was also said to be working in collaboration with other security outfits, particularly around the Jebba axis, to track down the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.

In the meantime, security operatives have heightened surveillance across key locations in the community, while patrol activities have been reinforced to curb further criminal incidents and aid the ongoing rescue operation.
