The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, acting on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, conveyed the minister’s congratulatory message to Muslim faithful for completing the Ramadan fast.
Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to continue embracing the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice highlighted during the holy month.
He also called on all Nigerians to pray for the nation’s unity, peace, and progress.
The minister wished citizens a joyful Eid-el-Fitr and encouraged celebrations that are safe and responsible, stressing the importance of showing kindness to the less privileged.
He reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering national cohesion and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.
