The Oyo State Police Command has urged members of the public to help identify the body of a yet-to-be-identified woman recovered in Egbeda Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, made the appeal in a statement released on Monday in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said the incident was reported on Saturday by a Good Samaritan who discovered the corpse and alerted the Egbeda Divisional Police Headquarters.

Ayanlade explained that the informant had gone to a car wash around Ile Marun, Iwo Road, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where he noticed the woman’s body inside a drainage channel.

Following the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Crime Officer was dispatched to the scene.

He said, “Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of an unidentified woman in the drainage. Initial observations revealed injuries around the head, raising suspicion of foul play.

“The scene was documented, and the body was evacuated to the Adeoyo State Hospital Mortuary, Ring Road, Ibadan, for preservation and autopsy.”

The police spokesperson stated that investigations were ongoing to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding her death.

He appealed to residents, especially those with missing female relatives, to report to the Egbeda Divisional Police Headquarters or any nearby police formation to assist in identifying the victim.

Ayanlade noted that public cooperation would be crucial in aiding the investigation.

He assured that the command remained committed to uncovering the facts of the case and ensuring that those responsible are brought to book.

The police also advised residents to stay alert and continue to share useful information with security agencies to enhance safety across the state.
