Viral video sparks outrage over alleged attempt to lure child hawker with ₦1,000

A viral video circulating on social media has triggered widespread condemnation after a man was accused of attempting to entice a young female hawker with a monetary offer.

The footage, shared on Monday by content creator LordZeus via Instagram, captured the moment he confronted the suspect over the alleged act.

In the clip, the man denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the child was his daughter. However, the girl countered his claim, explaining that he approached her while she was selling avocados and asked her to accompany him to a secluded area, offering her ₦1,000.

She stated that she refused the request, adding that the man then brought out the cash in what appeared to be an attempt to convince her.

Some individuals at the scene were heard appealing for leniency, alleging that the suspect was mentally unstable.

They also hinted that similar concerns had previously been raised about his behaviour.

Reacting, LordZeus faulted the defence, maintaining that no explanation should justify actions capable of endangering a minor.

He further urged parents and guardians to exercise caution by avoiding sending underage children to hawk alone, stressing that such situations could expose them to harm.

He called for greater awareness and collective efforts to ensure the protection and safety of children in the society.
