Governor Caleb Mutfwang has approved the removal of six political appointees and the suspension of the Chairman of the State House of Assembly Service Commission, Johnbull Shekarau.

One of those affected is the Special Adviser on Strategic Communications, Timothy Golu.

The development was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, who explained that the action forms part of measures to strengthen governance and improve overall service delivery in the state.

The statement noted that the decision was taken to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure that government operations remain in line with its policy objectives.

Others removed from office are Gwottson Fom, Liaison Officer for Jos South; Nambol Rimvyat and Nannim Langyi, both representing Langtang North; Paul Datugum from Qua’an Pan North; and Rimchak Rims from Langtang South.

In the same vein, the government announced the suspension of Shekarau over alleged actions considered to be at variance with the expected standards and procedures of his office, adding that the issue is undergoing official review.

Affected officials were directed to immediately hand over all government materials in their custody to the appropriate authorities, while the administration expressed appreciation for their services and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The action followed closely after a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, held a parallel congress in Jos, where Peter Tongshep emerged as chairman alongside other executive members.

It was learnt that both Golu and Shekarau attended the congress as members of the party’s Board of Trustees, alongside notable figures within the Wike-backed camp, including former Sports Minister Damishi Sango, ex-minister Musa I. Azi, as well as Sarpiya Danyaro and Aminu Zang, a former commissioner in the state.
