DNA test must be carried out before burial – Mohbad’s father insists

Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Mohbad, has maintained that his son will not be laid to rest until a DNA test is conducted to confirm the paternity of the singer’s child.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu had earlier ordered a Deoxyribonucleic Acid test to determine whether Liam Aloba is the biological son of the deceased.

The directive was issued by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga while ruling on an application filed by the late singer’s father.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok page on Sunday, Aloba alleged that some influential persons were attempting to obstruct the process.

He also revealed plans to explore legal options, including the possible relocation of the case from Lagos State to Ekiti State.

According to him, certain individuals were manipulating the situation surrounding his son’s death to frustrate his quest for justice.

Aloba expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the toxicology test already conducted, noting that attention had now shifted to what he described as a questionable DNA facility.

He reiterated that the DNA test remains a crucial condition before any burial arrangement can proceed, urging the Lagos State Government to grant approval for the burial once the test is completed.

He also appealed to the public to support his demand, stressing that establishing the child’s paternity is essential to resolving lingering issues.

Earlier reports indicated that the family’s legal team had raised concerns over the credibility of some laboratories proposed for the exercise.

Counsel to the family, Oladayo Ogungbe, disclosed that the court, on February 24, 2026, directed that the test be conducted in three mutually agreed laboratories to ensure transparency.

The approved facilities include DNA Diagnostics Centre, AlphaBiolabs, and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited.

However, the lawyer noted that preliminary assessments had raised questions about the technical capacity of some of the laboratories.

Mohbad died in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, sparking widespread outrage across the country as well as legal disputes over his estate, royalties, and paternity claims.

His son, Liam, was born in April 2023, months before his death, and the issue of paternity has continued to generate intense public interest.
