Ondo State – The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected criminals and recovered a firearm, ammunition, and packs of tiles in a major operational breakthrough at the Igushi-Imafon area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Busayo Ajowele, 31, and Ajayi Ebenezer, 33, were apprehended on March 22, 2026, following a targeted police operation based on credible intelligence. Officers recovered a locally made single-barrel rifle, two live cartridges, and twenty-nine floor tiles during a thorough search of the premises. The tiles are believed to be connected to ongoing investigations.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly fired shots into the air to intimidate residents before committing their crimes. Statements obtained from them are currently aiding detectives in mapping potential links to wider criminal networks in the state.

Authorities say the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigations.

Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the officers for their swift, intelligence-led operation, highlighting it as evidence of the command’s commitment to proactive and community-focused policing.

He assured residents that the command remains determined to eliminate criminality and safeguard lives and property across Ondo State.

CP Lawal also acknowledged the support of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, noting that his guidance and encouragement have significantly strengthened the operational effectiveness of the command.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to assist ongoing operations, assuring that all guilty parties will face the full force of the law while efforts continue to apprehend other accomplices.
