A coordinated operation by security agencies has thwarted an attempted invasion by armed bandits in Tsauri community, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, with more than 500 rustled cattle recovered and at least two suspects neutralised.

The Chairman of the Faruruwa Community Security Committee, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, commended the swift intervention of security personnel, particularly the police, in preventing what could have escalated into a major security crisis.

Bagobiri disclosed that the assailants, reportedly numbering in the hundreds and riding on about 150 motorcycles, stormed the community in broad daylight.

He explained that the bandits targeted a Fulani herder who owned over 2,000 cattle, attempting to cart away a significant portion of the livestock.

According to him, residents promptly raised the alarm, alerting security operatives and neighbouring communities, including Goron Dutse, Shanono, and Tsanyawa.

He added that he personally contacted the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to report the incident.

The police chief, he said, immediately ordered a coordinated response, leading to the deployment of a joint security team comprising police operatives and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.

Bagobiri further revealed that the fleeing attackers were intercepted during the operation, with some attempting to escape towards Katsina State, while others remained within Kano.

He noted that security forces engaged the bandits in a confrontation, resulting in the killing of two suspects and the recovery of over 500 cattle.

He expressed satisfaction with the prompt response, emphasising that the timely intervention helped to avert a serious breach of security in the area.
