The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in commemoration of this year’s Easter celebration.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement.

Friday, April 3, is observed as Good Friday, while Monday, April 6, marks Easter Monday.

Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the significance of the season.

He called on citizens to embrace values such as selflessness, forgiveness, tolerance and love, which he said are exemplified in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

The minister also stressed the need for national unity, noting that Easter serves as a reminder of the importance of peaceful coexistence and collective harmony.

He urged Nigerians to remain committed to these ideals in the interest of the country’s progress.

Tunji-Ojo further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to policies geared towards national development, economic growth and shared prosperity.

He wished Christians a peaceful and fulfilling Easter celebration.
