The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the attack and robbery of a police officer in Agadagba, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspects were apprehended through a prompt, intelligence-driven operation.
According to the police, the incident occurred on March 6, 2026, when Inspector Ige Olayinka, attached to the Okitipupa Area Command, was carrying out an official assignment in the community.
The officer was reportedly investigating a petition when she was ambushed, assaulted, and dispossessed of her service riot gun alongside other personal items.
The statement noted that security operatives swiftly launched a manhunt, leading to the arrest of the three suspects identified as Ajemigi Amos, Ofoezu Tari and Alonge Lot.
It added that the stolen service weapon was successfully recovered, while the suspects have been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, described the attack as a serious challenge to lawful authority and public safety.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting residents and warned that acts of violence against security personnel would not be tolerated.
