A windstorm that followed a heavy rainfall on Tuesday caused damage to parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Nyanya, Abuja, as well as nearby structures, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has said.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the storm also affected sections of the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and some buildings within the vicinity.

The FCTA, however, noted that preliminary reports indicated that no casualties were recorded and no vehicles were affected during the incident.

It added that the situation was promptly brought under control to avoid any disruption to public order and movement in the area.

Following the incident, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, directed the immediate deployment of security personnel to the scene.

The minister, according to the statement, also ordered swift intervention to repair the damaged infrastructure.

The administration assured residents that necessary steps were being taken to restore normalcy and ensure public safety.
