The German government has announced the commencement of applications for its academic scholarship scheme targeting graduates and postgraduate students across Sub-Saharan Africa, in a move aimed at expanding access to international education and research opportunities.
The programme, coordinated by the German Academic Exchange Service, was unveiled on Friday via an official post on X, where authorities urged eligible candidates to take advantage of the opportunity before the closing date of April 29, 2026.
According to the announcement, the initiative forms part of Germany’s broader efforts to deepen global academic collaboration and support capacity building among emerging professionals in Africa.
“Scholarships are now open to graduates and postgraduates in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Applicants should consult the official flier for detailed information and submit their applications before the deadline,” the statement read.
Prospective candidates were advised to carefully review all application guidelines, including eligibility criteria, participating institutions, and documentation requirements, to avoid disqualification.
The organisers emphasised that only complete applications submitted within the stipulated timeframe would be considered, warning that late entries would not be entertained.
Officials further noted that the scholarship scheme is highly competitive, attracting a large pool of applicants from across the region each year.
Germany reaffirmed its commitment to fostering international knowledge exchange and nurturing future leaders through education, urging interested candidates to begin the application process early to meet the deadline.
