A former Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Bashorun Tola Alabere, has been elected Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in the state.
Alabere emerged at the party’s state congress held on Saturday, alongside other party executives who assumed leadership positions through a consensus arrangement.
Among them are former PDP Organising Secretary, Dare Akinwale, who retained the same role in the ADC; Oloye Ola Amure as Legal Adviser; Kunle Adeloye as Secretary; Ayodele Ogunsuyi; and Bobby Omotoso as Deputy Chairman.
Chairman of the party’s National Convention Committee in the state, Kehinde Agboola, said the emergence of the executives followed the successful conduct of ward and local government congresses, in line with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.
Agboola noted that the development would strengthen the party’s mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, alleging that the ruling All Progressives Congress had been working to weaken opposition parties.
He, however, expressed optimism about the ADC’s prospects, insisting the party remained a viable platform to challenge the APC in future elections.
In his acceptance speech, Alabere pledged to work with party members to reposition the ADC and secure victory in the forthcoming polls.
Also speaking, a party leader in the state, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, said the coalition backing the ADC had grown significantly, expressing confidence that the party would perform strongly in the next elections.
