Seyi Makinde is planning to remove Olubadan – Ex-Gov Fayose alleges

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Fayose made the allegation in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, where he raised concerns over alleged political moves targeting the traditional ruler.

He claimed the process would begin with an official query to be issued to the Olubadan over his alleged absence at a recent coronation ceremony in Ibadanland.

According to him, the monarch’s absence at the event would be used as a basis for further actions against him by the state government.

Fayose further accused the governor of orchestrating the move, describing Makinde in harsh terms and alleging that he was monitoring what he called “ignominious machinations”.

He wrote in part that he would continue to watch what he described as the governor’s alleged plans unfold, using a derogatory expression in reference to Makinde.

The allegation comes amid growing public speculation over a possible misunderstanding between the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan, though both sides have not confirmed any dispute.

However, the Olubadan Palace has repeatedly dismissed claims of any rift between the monarch and Governor Makinde, insisting that their relationship remains cordial.

The palace also clarified that the Olubadan did not intentionally miss the coronation ceremony, adding that the traditional ruler was in Ibadan, hale and hearty, and fully engaged in his duties.
