The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a 25-year-old man, Friday Isah, during a birthday celebration in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, which occurred in Digil Ward, has sparked concern over rising violence at social gatherings, with police confirming that the victim was allegedly stabbed during the event.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were identified as Samson Elisha, 19, and Ayuba Stephen, 21, both residents of Mubi North.
Nguroje disclosed that operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Headquarters swiftly responded after receiving a distress report and rushed the victim to a medical facility.
He, however, noted that the victim was later pronounced dead by a doctor.
The police said the suspects allegedly attacked the deceased with a knife before fleeing the scene, but were subsequently tracked and apprehended.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for thorough investigation and prosecution.
The command reiterated its resolve to ensure justice is served, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
