Army Troops Kill 16 Terrorists in Two North Eastern States

The army troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed 16 terrorists in separate operations conducted in Borno and Yobe States. The terrorists were killed during the army’s operations that are meant to route out the remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in the North East.

According to a Release made available on Sunday, October 25, 2020 by the Acting Director of Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, troops of Special Response Area Gajiram deployed at Check Point 3 under Sector 3 decisively dealt a heavy blow on criminal terror elements on October 21, 2020. The
eagle eyed troops engaged and killed three Boko Haram terrorists that were trailing the vehicular convoy conveying Internally Displaced Persons from Maiduguri cosmopolitan city to Baga town.

Items recovered by the troops from the terrorists include one gun truck, one anti aircraft gun, one AK 47 rifle and three shells for making improvised explosive device. Other items also recovered by the resilient troops include twelve AK 47 rifles while troops have since dominated the area with aggressive patrols.

Moreso, the troops of Army Super Camp Magumeri have also killed 11 Boko Haram terrorists that attacked their location. Items captured also from the terrorists include one gun truck and one dushka gun, while two gun trucks and two anti aircraft guns were destroyed. Also, mop up operation is being carried out by the gallant troops while the general area has been dominated with aggressive patrols and ambushes.

Similarly, troops of Army Super Camp located at Mallam Fatori also killed two Boko Haram fighters that attacked their location on Saturday, October 24, 2020. The other terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds as traces of blood of dragged casualties by the criminals were seen during the intense gun duel.

Also, items captured from the criminals include three AK 47 rifles, one light machine gun, 466 rounds of 7.62x54mm ammunition, 24 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition and one Tecno mobile phone. Moreover, the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole are in high spirit and aggressively dominating their area of responsibilities with robust fighting patrols.

However, the troops of Operation Fire Ball that is under Operation Lafiya Dole have been commended
for the resilience, doggedness and commitment exhibited in recent operations. The troops have also been charged not to rest on their oars but build on their recent operational successes.

Meanwhile, the High Command of Nigerian Armed Forces have assured the people of the North East of the determination to finally rout out the remnants of the Boko Haram and ISWAP terror elements from all their enclaves within the region.
