No confirmation of concrete action from FG – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Sunday said the Union is yet to receive concrete action from the Federal Government, at ending the eight months old strike embarked upon by the university lecturers.

ASUU President, Abiodun Ogunyemi, told BusinessDay exclusively in a telephone interview, while debunking the rumour that the Union will suspend its nationwide strike next Wednesday, saying ” We are still in the dark. ”

He said, any of such news trending that ASUU had directed students in Federal universities to prepare for resumption next week Wednesday “is totally fake news. Absolutely lie. ASUU does not operate any Twitter handle. The operators of the so called twitter are impersonators.”

According to him, “ASUU has not received confirmation of concrete action from the Federal Government, at warranty our desires to call off the strike.

“We are waiting for their invitation. But as I speak with you now, ASUU not aware of any reschedule meeting date with the Federal Government, ” Ogunyemi said.

The ASUU President however, stated that the Union would not hesitate to attend any meeting at resolving the crisis.
