Pope Francis on Wednesday condemned the killing of over 43 farmers in Zabarmari, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists. The head of the Roman Catholic Church made the disclosure during his weekly general audience, held virtually from his library in the Vatican city. “I want to assure my prayers for Nigeria, which unfortunately once again has been bloodied by a terroristic massacre,” he said. “May God welcome them into his peace and comfort their families, and may he convert the hearts of those who commit such horrors, which gravely offend His name.”
Yemiefash online had reported how Boko Haram terrorists slit the throat of 43 farmers in a rice field in Zabarmari, 20km from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. According to sources, the victims were mostly laborers from Sokoto State in northwest Nigeria, who were contracted to harvest paddy in the rice fields. Since the insurgency started in 2009, Boko Haram terrorists have killed over 30,000 people with more than two million displaced from their homes.
