Troops Kill Scores of Boko Haram Fighters in Borno

 

The gallant troops of 28 Task Force Brigade of Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole on Saturday, December 12, 2020 killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists that attempted to attack Askira Uba town in Borno State.

According to a press release made available on Sunday, December 13, 2020 by the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations of 7 Division Maiduguri, Colonel Ado Isa, the terrorists were suspected to moved out of Sambisa forest. It was added that the terrorists mounted on over 15 gun trucks and simultaneously approached Askira Uba town from different directions.

The troops however, responded with superior fire power as a result of which huge losses were inflicted in men, material and equipment on the terrorists. The troops also captured 4 gun trucks from the criminals while some gun trucks were similarly destroyed by the air component of the troops that swiftly responded to the attack.

Specifically, more than 20 bodies of Boko Haram terrorists have been counted at the time of the press release. Also, other items captured from the terrorists include
3 boxer motorcycles, 3 anti aircraft guns, 2 PKT machine guns, 10 AK 47 rifles and 13 rocket propelled grenade (RPG) bombs as well as large cache of ammunition and other weapons.

However, one soldier paid the supreme price while two others were wounded during the encounter. Although the two injured soldiers are already stable and responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, under the guidance of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai have given an assurance of continuous sustenance of its aggressive and offensive determination to rid the entire North East region of the remnants of Boko Haram, ISWAP, rapists and marauders.

Moreso, repose of the soul of the dead soldier was prayed for in the press release while the two soldiers wounded in action were also wished quick recovery.
