Army Troops Kill 35 Armed Bandits in Two Northern States

have killed 30 armed bandits at Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
The troops had promptly responded to a credible intelligence on the movement of armed bandits with rustled animals. The troops troops thereafter had contact with the armed bandits. In the course of the encounter that led to the killing of the bandits, 24 cows and unspecified number of sheep were also recovered.
Similarly, the troops deployed at Maradun had also killed 5 armed bandits at Janbako village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
According to a press release made available on January 18, 2021 by the Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Eneche, the troops had received information of reprisal attack by armed bandits and swiftly mobilized to the area to forestall the attack.
It was however reported that the troops were ambushed by the bandits shortly before Janbako village where fire fight immediately ensued. But the gallant troops succeeded in overwhelming the bandits with their superior fire power, leading to the killing of 5 out of the criminals. The troops are also in hot pursuit of the fleeing bandits.
Moreso, two suspected collaborators of bandits, Mustapha Sani and Murtala Sani have been arrested at Dungun Muazu village in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State following a tip off. The suspects are already in the troops’ custody for further action.
Meanwhile, an assurance has been given that members of Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies would continue to sustain their offensive against the enemies of Nation nation. It was further assured that Nigerian Armed Forces would not relent until normalcy is restored to every part of the country that is currently experiencing security challenges.
