Troops Kill 9 Boko Haram In Failed Attack On Maiduguri Outskirt
Nigerian Army troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed nine members of Boko Haram terrorists during a foiled attempt to attack the outskirt of Maiduguri in Borno State on Tuesday, May 12, 2021.
The terrorists were said to have
tried to advance from Aldawari axis, however, they attempted to attack soft targets along Jiddari Polo. But the terror elements were countered by a combined gallant troops in conjunction with the personnel of Nigerian Police, youth vigilante and local hunters. The criminals were therefore forced to withdraw in disarray.
According to a press release made available on Tuesday, May 12, 2021,
by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohamamed Yerima, the troops hotly pursued the terrorists and killed some of them while many of them escaped with gunshot wounds.
Some of the items recovered from the terrorists include 1 Buffalo gun truck, 3 motorcycles, 3 Browning achine guns, 1 rocket propelled gun and 4 AK 47 rifles. Other recovered items also include 1 Improvised Explosive Device, sixteen 12V batteries among other items.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant t General Ibrahim Attahiru has commended the gallantry of the troops and also urged them to sustain the operational tempo.
Moreso, members of the public have therefore been urged to remain calm and have confidence in the security forces to provide adequate protection during the festive period.
