Hon Abiola Makinde Breaks Ground For Ondo City Public Library.
Hon Abiola Peter Makinde, Honorable Member of the House of Representatives, representing the people of Ondo East and West Federal Constituency at the Green chamber has broken ground for the construction of an ultra-modern Ondo City public library.
The event held on Monday, 31st of January 2022 at the proposed site of the building had in attendance Royal Fathers, political and party leaders through the length and breadth of Ondo, Federal Ministry of Education representatives,State Ministry of Education, The Provost and Members of the Adeyemi University Management Staff, Honorable Commisioner for Culture and Tourism Ondo State, Hon Wale Akinlosotu.
Also his counterpart, Hon Commisioner, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, the Ondo West Local Government chairman, Hon Ebenezer Akinsulire and his Vice Chairman. Hon Jibayo Adeyeye, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo state, Ondo West APC party chairman, Principals, Head teachers, education related associations, hundredds of students as well as education stakeholders across the state, graced the occasion.
The ground which was filled with well-wishers and admirers of Hon Abiola Makinde, raised their voices and continued to sing praises of their Representative while stating that Ondo had never had it so good.
His Imperial Majesty, Oba Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo Jilo III, CFR, the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom who was the royal father of the day, also flanked by Oba Raymond Akinyele Abiodun, the Eki of Ifore community. While delivering his speech,the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, described Hon Abiola Peter Makinde, the Deputy-Chairman, House Committee on Federal Character, as a “finisher in the colony of starters” while thanking him for his efforts in ensuring Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo attained the status of a university. He also thanked him for bringing the library to Ondo as this would in no little way further develop the community and ensure that the students are well grounded.
Hon Abiola Makinde in his speech, noted the importance of the library and thanked everyone in attendance for the groundbreaking. He tasked the engineers on ground to speedily get to work and ensure that they deliver the library in the shortest time possible.
He also used the opportunity to reassure his constituents of his commitment to his WEALTH agenda meaning Water, Education, Agriculture, Light, Training and Health while explaining how the construction of the library fell under Education. He appreciated the efforts of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila in ensuring the project was sited in Ondo and thanked the Provost of Adeyemi, Dr Samuel Akintunde who gave them the piece of land that the public library will be situated upon.
Finally, Hon Abiola Makinde described readers as leaders while buttressing the pressing need to hone and sharpen the skills of our children by positively impacting their education so that they may in turn be useful unto themselves and by extension,the community. He advised the students to shun all societal vices and reiterated that education is still the best legacy as he would continue to bring to his consistuents only the best while he represents them as a member, House of Representatives.
