SENATE 2023: Chief @AjipeAlex Roll Out Plans/Manifesto For Ondo North Senatorial District.

LAWMAKING

The constitutional duty of a legislator in Nigeria is to make laws, but it is not enough to make laws. Laws must be just. Laws must be selfless. Laws must be made to improve and not stifle creativity. Laws must be carefully and responsibly made.

I pledge to use my good office to make laws that benefit the good people of Ondo State, especially my constituents. These laws must enhance productivity and creativity; give our young people an enabling environment and not stifle their creativity, whilst recognizing that we are in a changing world.

QUALITY REPRESENTATION

I pledge to not be frivolous with the opportunity to represent you. I pledge to feel and read your pulse and echo your words loudly in the

hallowed chambers. Never again will you have representation so distant and self-seeking. Your voice will be heard and your pains will be felt.

CONSTITUENT FUNCTIONS

I am aware of the peculiarities of the Nigerian legislature with respect to constituent functions. At the highest level, interests collide, and it is easy to be lost in self-service. I however pledge to represent you, and to as much as the system and legality permit, channel opportunities and resources your way. I pledge to, as I have done in the past, help our youths, our aged, our women, and our vulnerable members harness the many opportunities that, despite its many flaws, our system has made available, but that sadly have been cornered for personal gain.

POSITIVE USE OF INFLUENCE VS

DECENTRALIZATION OF

OPPORTUNITIES

Again, I recognize that Nigeria is set up to favour the influential. I understand that there are many opportunities open to those who are influential across the arms of Government. Being a senator is synonymous with being a person of influence. I pledge to use my influence in your favour. I know that you have not felt the benefits of influence over the years, and I promise that I will be different.

I am committed to positively using my influence to benefit my people, but much more critically, I am committed to working hard to ensure that opportunities are decentralized for the benefit of the common man!

SPECIFIC COMMITMENTS

I am committed to using my resources, influence and relationships to improve the economic viability of our constituency, especially in the area of agriculture and natural resources. Our national endowments can be put to better use, and I have the right experience and network to radically improve our fortunes if backed by political power. I commit to establishing a viable Agricultural village in Owo, sustainable cement factories and Ethanol plants and ceramics factories in Ose, an effective ceramics and commerce centre in Akure South West and Akure South East, productive ranches of livestock in Akure North East and Akure North West and so on.

I am committed to creating structures that will continuously survive generations in terms of employment generation through industrialization and agripreneurship. No more will the rich community of Ondo North Senatorial District be treated as a pauper. I am committed to establishing industrialized systems that will engage in the exportation of the rich raw materials in the community to generate revenue and subsequently, benefit everyone on the land.

I am committed to the tenets of true federalism, especially devolution of powers, state police, and fiscal federalism, amongst others. I will not shy away from these just calls, or shirk for political convenience like those who have gone before me. I will be a voice for justice and equity- and the call for true federalism is a just, fair and equitable one.

I am committed to exposing and opening up the people of my constituents to federal and state opportunities. I commit to helping each son and daughter of the land advance in resources and skills to be able to effect full representation in both federal and state opportunities.

I am committed to subsidizing education to enable access to quality education for all. Children of farmers shall sit in the same space with children of the influential. I pledge to eradicate the barrier in the education space; leading children to be out-of-school in Ondo North Senatorial District.

I am committed to upholding skill acquisition for students and youths for self-sufficiency. I will conduct mass training across institutions and communities where youths can be trained and empowered in the skill of their choice, giving them the ability to build viable entrepreneurial structures and systems through their skills.

I am committed to using my influence to bring attention to the need for the urgent and consistent safety and security of our people. I understand the plight of our farmers especially and our people in general who deserve the peace and serenity we were once known to have. Our lands have been infiltrated and our peace is under attack. I will not be silent, but I will speak for my people until our peace is established and constant.

I am committed to continuous philanthropy and empowerment, but more critically, I commit to ensuring access to information and opportunities that can transform you from receivers and dependents to givers who can fend for their loved ones and ensure that the circle of financial independence is wider and more encompassing.

I am committed to investing in human capital development, and not treating the people like I am doing them a favour by providing viable jobs where their potential can be maximally actualized. I will create a meaningful system; where the people can find and trace the purpose of their representation in the legislative arm of government.

VISIBILITY, PROXIMITY, ACCESSIBILITY AND HUMILITY are attributes I have been known for, and will continue to be known for. I will not be distant. I will not be far. I will not be difficult to relate with. I will be visible and I will be near. My impact will be felt. It will be real, for I am, and I will remain one of you!

With your support, I will do much more than has ever been done for the benefit of the people of Ondo North.
