The Member representing Ondo West Constituency 1 at the state assembly,Hon. Tomide Akinribido has raised alarm over the rising incidences of crime occurrences and killings within his constituency.

The Lawmaker who made the observation while raising a motion on the floor at the plenary session which held on Thursday,June 16th 2022,mentioned some incidences which has claimed the lives of about five(5) people in violent robbery attacks and killings within the month of June,in Ondo West Constituency 1.

Hon. Akinribido particularly listed the robbery attack at Sabo area on Tuesday June 7th which claimed four(4) lives and another killing of a popular DJ(DJ MS) at Falana area on Saturday June 11th. While decrying these occurrences, the legislator noted that one of the lives lost at Sabo could have been saved but for the refusal of some hospitals to attend to the victim who sustained a gunshot injury, which led to severe loss of blood and eventual death.

Consequently,Hon. Akinribido moved two proposals for the House of Assembly to charge security agencies in Ondo state to immediately embark on a “mop-up” operation,so as to recover all arms, ammunitions and light weapons that are with unauthorized persons across the state. And secondly, for the state ministry of health to direct all hospitals operating within the state to always receive and treat injured victims of criminal attacks.

In his final ruling,The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly;Rt. Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun, extended condolence greetings to the family of the dead victims and sympathized with the injured victims. He thereafter ruled that the proposals of Hon. Akinribido be adopted as a motion and forwarded to the necessary government agencies for necessary action.
