The Corruption and Financial Crimes Cases Trial Monitoring Committee, COTRIMCO, of the National Judicial Council, NJC, has urged judges across Nigeria to ensure speedy trial of corruption-related cases.

The Chairman of Zone C of the committee, Justice Muntar Abimbola spoke in Akure, Ondo State capital, when he led other members to an interactive session with leadership of the judiciary in the state.

After visits to other states, it is the turn of Ondo State Judiciary to host members of the Corruption and Financial Crimes Cases Trial Monitoring Committee, COTRIMCO, of the National Judicial Council, NJC.

The committee is here to deliberate on how to achieve speedy trial of corruption-related cases.

It was an interactive session with leadership of the judicial arm of government in the state, which gave the committee opportunity to review corruption cases being handled.

The Chairman of the Sub-Committee of the team, who is the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Muntar Abimbola said efforts should be geared towards fast-tracking corruption related cases.

Justice Abimbola is however delighted that the judiciary in Ondo is one of the states with the lowest number of corruption-related cases in the country.

The Committee Chairman said the reports gathered from all states visited, will be documented and submitted to the NJC for further action, towards ensuring sanity in the judicial system.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Williams Akintoroye expressed readiness of the state judiciary to follow guidelines of the committee, in ensuring speedy dispensation of justice, without considering whose ox is gored.
