Lagos govt plans to boost tech investments
ThE Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has unveiled his administration’s plan to boost investments through technology and digital government services.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, disclosed this on Tuesday during the third annual stakeholders’ conference of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency held on Victoria Island.
He said, “We recognise that one of the basic requirements to achieve the goal of bringing about improved and effective governance is technology, especially the availability of efficient and reliable internet service.
“We ensured digitisation of key government services, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency, accountability, and transparency.
“All of these are in furtherance of building a smart Lagos city that is globally competitive and it is heart-warming that many private initiatives are springing up with huge investments that will deliver high speed and efficient internet service.”
The General Manager of LASIMRA, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, said, “This set of initiatives, as seen in some cities – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dubai, Seoul, Stockholm, Singapore – that are active in implementing smart city strategies, are the building blocks for Lagos State smart city project with the state playing the leading role by implementing e-governance, which is in line with Mr Governor’s THEMES policy agenda.”
