Jocular Apology To Fessy West Twisted For Political Gains – @SmallAlhaji_
Federal lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye has disputed a post in an online blog that he apologized to Hon. Festus Akingbaso because the claim of assassination attempt on his life was false.
Adefisoye, who is popularly known as Small Alhaji told some journalists in Akure on Thursday that the loud emphasis on apology to Fessy West was deliberately quoted of context by those in his camp for the purpose of scoring cheap political points.
The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Army confirmed that
the revered paramount ruler of Idanre truly conveyed a peace accord meeting on Tuesday between him and Hon. Akingbaso. He also added that the meeting was meant to douse tension and ensure that lasting peace returns to Idanre town.
Adefisoye further said that the revered Idanre monarch demanded that all litigations as well as his own response concerning the defamation claim by Fessy West should be withdrawn forthwith from the court.
According to the lawmaker, Fessy West immediately agreed to withdraw the case but jocularly requested that Small Alhaji should tell him sorry as an elder brother.
“It is true that our highly respected kabiyesi in Idanre conveyed a peace accord meeting on Tuesday. Essence of the meeting was to ensure that the aggravated political tension in Idanre is doused.
“The kabiyesi did all within his powers to appeal to myself and Fessy West to give lasting peace a chance during the meeting which had the Ondo State police commissioner in attendance.
“Before we signed the peace accord, Kabiyesi demanded that the defamation case instituted by Fessy West be withdrawn while my own response too should also be withdrawn.
” It was at this point that Fessy West who is obviously older than me jocularly demanded that I should apologize to him and I did out of respect for our kabiyesi and because Fessy West is older than me. Although I could have declined despite the friendly atmosphere, but I did, so as not to be perceived as an arrogant person”.
Meanwhile, Adefisoye also expressed his utter disappointment with the way his jocular apology to Fessy West was mischievously blown out of context.
“Let me make it clear that my jocular apology to Fessy West was not borne out of any false claim of assassination attempt. Of a truth, an attempt was made on my life and the case is still being investigated by the police.
“It should also be noted that I could not have done anything different on the day of the peace accord meeting because I truly desire lasting peace in Idanre. My action on the day was undeniably borne out of my utmost respect for our revered kabiyesi and also because of my unflinching love
for my people in Idanre”, Adefisoye concluded.
