The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 36, has built the first intensive care unit to be located in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The health facility was named after the General Overseer of the church, Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Folu.

The facility was named ‘Enoch and Folu Adeboye Intensive Care Unit,’ and unveiled by Mrs Adeboye on Friday, November 24, at the Alimosho General Hospital in the Igando area of the state.

Adeboye, at the event, spoke about the importance of human life and health using biblical passages to buttress her points.

She said, “If you give millions to a person who is not in perfect health, such a person would not enjoy the millions. So, health is more important than prosperity. That is to say that whatever you may be desiring to have, materially today, let us have and desire good health.”

The clergywoman who was conducted around the facility also prayed on the project and for all that contributed to its success.

The pastor in charge of the region, Dele Jaiyeoba, said the project was inspired by the corporate social responsibility drive of the church.

He said in parts, “RCCG has always been involved in corporate social responsibility. In 2011, Daddy Adeboye made a meeting of the felt needs of members and the host community mandatory for every branch of the church. Today, in RCCG as a pastor, your monthly report is incomplete until you have reported your monthly CSR activity.

“When we commenced as a region in September last year, we decided to embrace a culture of ‘if it is not very good, it is not good enough.’ This excellent culture is what brought CSR to our region, our CSR should have an impact on the host community and this is the inspiration that gave birth to Enoch and Folu Adeboye Intensive Care Unit of the Alimosho General Hospital, Igando.”

Jaiyeoba added that the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, who is an Assistant Pastor in charge of the Province and the head of CSR in the region, was given the mandate to scout for a project that would be of great benefit to the local government.

“He came back with information that in the entire Alimosho Local Government, there was no single ICU. Pastor Ola went to work with his CSR team and the result of their hard work is what we are witnessing and celebrating today,” he added.

The items in the facility include three crank electric beds, a multi-parameter monitor, an Infusion pump, an air mattress, a suction machine, an AED Machine, an Oxygen concentrator, Anti DVT pump, Installation cost, ventilator amongst others.

Olukoyede on his part said plans were in place to maintain the facility.

He said, “The facility is one of the things that will also propagate the gospel in this area and will also add to the value of people’s health. There is a team in place that determines how the facility is going to be put to use and also possibly the issue of maintenance going forward because it is not just for put in place but also for maintenance.”

The Medical Director, Alimosho General Hospital, Ayodapo Soyinka, described the ICU as a strategic and most impactful intervention in the health space in Nigeria, adding that it would be made affordable for the benefit of the common man.

Guests present include the Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Atinuke Onayiga; Commissioners 1 and 2, LSHSC, Olumuyiwa Solanke and Mobolaji Olukoya, respectively; Partner/Director, LTBL Consulting, Tayo Abiodun, and staff of the general hospital.
