IWD: POWA empowers 150 widows, indigent women in Kaduna

The Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Kaduna state chapter, on Saturday, empowered no fewer than 150 widows and other indigent women.

The chairperson of POWA, Fatima Dabigi, distributed funds to 150 widows and less-privileged women in a benevolent act of compassion and support.

Mrs Dabigi ,who is the wife of the commissioner of police Kaduna state command, said the programme was designed by the POWA president, Elizabeth Egbetokun, the wife of the Inspector-General of Police, to inspire and encourage members of the association to actively participate in entrepreneurship.

She said that the POWA president believes that fostering inspiration and promoting inclusion was essential for the empowerment of women in the community.

“The generous distribution of funds aims to alleviate financial burdens, providing a stepping stone for these women to venture into entrepreneurial endeavors,” Mrs Dabigi said.

She expressed her commitment towards fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship among POWA members, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to thrive in various business pursuits.

According to her, the initiative aligns with the broader goals of International Women’s Day, emphasising the importance of

gender equality, empowerment, and inclusivity.

She urged Nigerians to join hands in creating a supportive environment that enables women to reach their full potential.
