Ondo State Football Association has commended the decision of Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to renovate Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
This is contained in an appreciation letter dated June 14 addressed to the governor and signed by the Secretary of the Association, Chief Ibukun Adetoyinbo.
The letter said that the importance of renovation of the stadium could not be overemphasized as it would add glory to the state.
“The Ondo State Football Association, under the leadership of the Chairman, Otunba Dele Ajayi, received the good news of the approval of renovation of Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure by the State Executive Council with great joy and happiness.
“The association commends and appreciates your excellency for this kind gesture despite the financial constraint of the state government.
“When completed, the state can boast of hosting big matches and this will improve the economic standard of our people and our darling clubs, Sunshine Stars FC and newly promoted to NNL, Emalex Football Club of Owo will be able to sell tickets for their matches,” the letter said.
The letter said the state FA under Chairman Dele Ajayi is solidly behind the current administration and ready to work with his vision and mission to develop the round leather game in the state.
“We appeal to His Excellency to start the work immediately as the football league has come to an end so the 2024/2025 football season will be able to commence on the stadium.
“Once again, we appreciate your Excellency for this kind gesture and we pray that God Almighty will grant you wisdom and knowledge to lead Ondo State to enviable greater heights
