A youth identified as an indigene of Gombe State was found dead in Zaria over the weekend, with severe cuts on his body.

The body was discovered near the busy PZ area in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Reports suggest that the deceased and several companions were in Zaria with hopes of joining the Nigerian Army.

However, the Public Relations Officer at the Army Depot stated, “We have heard about the incident involving a civilian who was robbed and killed near PZ. The Zaria Divisional Police is handling the case. For more details, please contact them directly.”

An anonymous source informed journalists that the victim was allegedly killed by his acquaintances, who had also withdrawn N800,000 from his account. The deceased’s body, found on Saturday morning, showed signs of knife wounds.

The victim, who had received about N1 million from his parents, had shared his ATM card and password with a friend to withdraw N10,000 for food.

The source speculated that his friends, aware of his funds and ATM details, might be responsible for the murder. The body has been taken to a medical facility in Zaria for further examination.

Despite failing to secure recruitment into the Army, the group remained in Zaria and continued to cause disturbances.

They were initially displaced from the PZ area by authorities and later moved to the polo ground, where they continued to disrupt the local community.
