JUST IN: ODIRS Chairman Resigns
Dr. Tolu Adegbie, the Executive Chairman of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS), has resigned from his position in accordance with Section 12 (1) (a) of the Ondo State Revenue Administration Law 2018. His departure is linked to his new role as a member of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Implementation Committee, which will require his full attention away from ODIRS for several months.
Dr. Adegbie’s move to this national role marks a new chapter in his distinguished career. During his tenure, ODIRS experienced significant progress and transformation. He led numerous reforms that greatly enhanced the state’s revenue generation and tax administration.
Under his leadership, ODIRS saw substantial improvements in fiscal policies, transparency, and taxpayer engagement. He was initially appointed by the late Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, to the transition Budget and Finance Committee in December 2016. In December 2017, he was named Senior Special Assistant on Revenue, and in January 2018, he became Chairman of the Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Dr. Adegbie achieved notable financial growth, increasing monthly revenue from N700 million in 2018 to N3.5 billion by 2023. His tenure as Executive Chairman of ODIRS, which concluded on July 30, 2024, leaves a lasting impact on the state’s fiscal landscape.
