Youths across Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo have accused the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Olayato Aribo of working against the interest of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as regards the forthcoming governorship election.
The displeased youths condemned the unwarranted intervention of Olayato Aribo in the leadership change of Agbajowo Timber and Fletchers Association. The youths described the vexatious attempt by Aribo to foist an outgone chairman on the Association,
as an effort to set the people of Idanre against the political interest of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Speaking on the situation, Oluwaseun Akintelure said the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources was being used by a known politician in Idanre to scuttle the peaceful, acceptable and ordely leadership change earlier effected in the Agbajowo Timber and Fletchers Association.
Akintelure said that the certain politician, whose bidding Aribo was doing is known to have worked against Governor Aiyedatiwa in the build up to the APC governorship primary election. He added that the former Chairman of Agbajowo Timber and Fletchers Association had already spent maximum 8-years in office, before the association’s executive and elders replaced him with Mr. Tope Owoseni.
Akintelure further added that Governor Aiyedatiwa had already been notified of
the election of Tope Owoseni; while the LCDA Chairman in Idanre, Prince Kayode Aroloye had also given his blessing to this election.
Akintelure therefore wondered why the Agric Commissioner had chosen to foist the outgone Chairman on the members of Agbajowo Timber and Fletchers Association in Idanre. He described the move as an attempt to set the people of the agrarian town of Idanre against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
“I am calling on Governor Aiyedatiwa to please call the Agric Commissioner to order without delay. The man that he is doing his bidding has not won election for his party, APC in Idanre in the last 8-years. The man is at it again, and sadly, the commissioner for Agric is acting his scripts.
“We are all APC members and cocoa farming and timbers felling are our major means of livelihood here in Idanre. It is so saddening that Agric Commissioner is working in cahoot with someone that never supported Governor Aiyedatiwa in the APC governorship primary election. The ignoble moves of Aribo could set the people of Idanre against the governor, unless he is quickly reigned in”, added Akintelure.
