“We are working towards ensuring that Nigerians have unfettered access to education without any encumbrance” was the assertion of the Founder of Sam Maris University (SMU),Supare-Akoko, Mr. Sam T. Ologunorisa, SAN, at the just concluded 2024 Supare Day celebrations.

The learned silk who keenly noted a number of Nigerians have been unable to access quality education at the tertiary level due to financial constraints, disclosed that his Institution is poised to run an effective egalitarian education system and charge tuition that will afford all and sundry to have access to education at rock bottom prices.

Contrary to the erroneous belief that private institutions charge exorbitant tuition fees that are not affordable to average Nigerians, Ologunorisa who was represented by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Francis Gbore, debunked the claim stating that prices of degree programmes run by his University are affordable to the low income earners.

He stressed that SMU is currently running a scholarship scheme that afforded students from low-income homes to have access to quality education in the 2023/2024 Academic Session.

He said, “Today, we are proud of our commitment to making education more accessible to everyone. At Sam Maris University, we believe that quality education should not be a privilege reserved for a few, but a right extended to all. This vision drives us to continuously enhance our efforts, ensuring that financial constraints do not stand to inhibit academic aspirations.

“Last year, we launched a scholarship scheme designed specifically to support students from low-income backgrounds. This initiative underscores our dedication to inclusivity and equity, providing opportunities for talented individuals who might otherwise be excluded. We are committed to ensuring that these students do not only register in the University as undergraduates but also thrive in an environment that supports their academic and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

“In addition to our scholarship program, we have resolved to maintain affordable tuition fees with flexible payment methods thus setting the pace and distinguishing ourselves on affordability and accessibility amongst sister private institutions. We understand the financial burdens that can accompany higher education, and it is our mission to alleviate this burden while offering access to our world-class facilities and resources. Our goal is to create a nurturing and supportive environment where every student can excel.
