Man, 31, in court over alleged possession of stolen iron rods
A 31-year-old man, Ishola Awogbemi, on Wednesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly in possession of 10 pieces of iron rods suspected to be stolen.
Awogbemi, whose address was not provided, is facing trial on a count charge of unlawful possession.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 18, at 11.00 a.m., in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to him, the defendant was unlawfully in possession of 10 mm pieces of iron rods suspected to be stolen.
Mr Apata said that the offence contravened Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail, adding that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until September 18 for hearing.
