The 1979 set of Imade College Owo Old Students Association (IMACOSA), has lauded the Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over the appointment of Olayide Adelami as the deputy governor of the state.

The alumni association made this known at the 50th reunion event, held at Imade College in Owo on Saturday.

Speaking through its worldwide president, Isiaka Kareem, the association said it appreciated the governor for finding Adelami worthy of the exalted position.

Kareem listed the deputy governor’s outstanding contributions to the development of the school, his alma mater, as reason for bestowing on him, an award of excellence.

1979 year set coordinator, Tunde Owadimbola, said the school has produced many eminent personalities, who are now captains of industry and top public office holders, among whom is the current deputy governor of Ondo state, Olayide Adelami.

He noted, “Imade College is more than a school but a foundation that instills in students the core moral values of discipline, honesty, resilience and hardwork”

Owadimbola said the reunion is a celebration of hope, empathy, friendship and shared value.

Appreciating the alumni association for the honor, the deputy governor said Governor Aiyedatiwa prioritizes education and considers it a potent tool to break generational poverty.

“The governor acknowledges the role of alumni associations in the promotion of quality education among young people. On behalf of other awardees, I appreciate IMACOSA for the accolade and promise to continue to do more for my alma mater” Adelami assured.

A member of the aionian group of schools, Imade College was founded in March 1946 as the first post-primary school in Owo and one of the first generation colleges in the present Ondo state.

In 2023, Imade was adjudged best public secondary school in Nigeria by the federal ministry of education.
