The Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has said that his administration embarked on community engagement in order to know the peculiar needs of each community and work towards meeting those developmental needs.

This, he added, necessitated his decision to appoint three Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) on Community Engagement for the three senatorial districts of the State.

The Governor stated this on Monday when he received the community engagement (Needs Assessment) report for Ondo North Senatorial District at his office in Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to personally review the report and ensure that the policies and projects identified will form a crucial part of the 2025 budget.

The Governor assured the committee that efforts would be made to implement policies tailored to the specific needs of the six local government areas within the Ondo North Senatorial District.

Governor Aiyedatiwa further highlighted that the report would serve as a crucial reference for technocrats, political office holders, and relevant agencies, enabling them to allocate resources more effectively and address the precise needs of the people.

The Governor praised the efforts of the SSA Community Engagement for Ondo North, Mr. Bode Obanla, especially for his forward-thinking approach of bringing the relevant stakeholders on board in his activities.

The report, which was presented by the Advisory Council for the district, contains a comprehensive outlay of the immediate and long-term development needs of the district.

The document was formally presented to Governor Aiyedatiwa by the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Timehin Adelegbe, member representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Key areas of focus in the report include power supply, infrastructure development, education, and other critical sectors vital to the district’s growth.

Hon. Adelegbe thanked the Governor for providing participatory governance and delivering dividends of democracy to the people of the State in the short period that he has been in office.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Bode Obanla, expressed his gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the enabling environment provided for him and commended the Governor’s continuous efforts towards enhancing the development of communities across the state.

Other members of the Advisory Council on the visit included former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Babatunde Kolawole, former Commissioner, Architect Igbekele Daodu, a member of the House of Assembly, Hon. Toyin Japhet, Hon. Kuti Tawose, Chief Demola Ijabiyi and Mr. Goke Oluwole.
