Rotary Club to embark on N35M projects in Ondo
The Rotary Club has committed itself to humanity projects that will gulp N35 million in various sectors in Ondo State.
The President of the Rotary Club of Akure- Metro D9126, Dr Toyin Adeyalo-Ogundare, stated this on Saturday during her inauguration as the president of the club.
Dr Toyin Adeyalo-Ogundare, the third female president of the club in the Akure-Metro, was made the president on July 1.
Adeyalo-Ogundare explained that her tenure,2024/2025, would renovate and equip the physics and chemistry laboratories at Imafon Community High School, Imafon, a suburb of Akure in Ondo State.
She added that the club i would be offering scholarships to indigent students across 18 local government areas of the state.
According to her, the initiative is aimed at transforming lives through quality education, which she said is one of the most powerful tools for community development.
The president promised that the club would provide essential hospital equipment and consumables to public hospitals, focusing on maternity wards.
She said that the gesture would improve healthcare delivery for mothers and children, ensuring they revive the care they deserve in a conducive environment.
Adeyalo-Ogundare stated that the club would also extend its hands of love to focus on empowerment of single mothers and widows through targeted programmes to equip them with skills and resources for self sufficiency.
“ We will also provide fire safety training for member of the community adding a layer of security and preparedness.
“Health is wealth and we will focus on raising public awareness about critical health issues.
These life saving initiatives will benefit both the public and our fellow Rotarians.
“‘As part of our goal to ensure access to clean water, we will install solar-powered boreholes in some selected schools and communities.
“By nurturing the next generation through the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy and mentoring interact clubs, we are sowing seeds that will grow into leaders who will continue to make a difference long after we are gone,” she said.
The president said that in line with Rotary’s commitment to peace, the club would partner with relevant stakeholders to offer public education on peaceful coexistence and conflict resolution helping to foster a harmonious community.
Adeyalo-Ogundare added that the club would be active in providing relief materials to disaster victims and extending its impacts in times of crisis and needs.
In his remarks, the Chairman of investiture Planning Committee, Mr Sunday Agbotoba, said that the club was resolute in making a difference in the society, irrespective of economic situation in the country.
Agbotoba said that the new president had shown passion to make the rotary year a very fruitful and fulfilling one, asking all and sundry to support the new president to better the lord of the less privileged.
