ODSG approves rehabilitation, construction of solar-powered water schemes in Ondo South.

As part of the Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa administration’s efforts to provide clean and accessible water and prevent cholera outbreaks in Ondo State, the Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation, Sunday Akinwalire, has inspected water schemes in Okitipupa and parts of the Southern Senatorial District.

During an inspection at a moribund water scheme in Iju Odo, Akinwalire announced the governor’s approval for the rehabilitation of the water scheme to provide potable water to the community.

He said, “Mr Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, learned that the water project had become moribund and directed us to take immediate action to restore the water scheme.”

“All logistics have been put in place to ensure the water scheme becomes operational in the next few days.”

In response, Oba Festus Oyedele Oyemoyegun, the Oniju of Iju Odo, thanked the governor for his support in restoring the community’s water scheme and promised to ensure full security for the project when it is finally rehabilitated. He also expressed his support for the governor in the forthcoming election.

In Ilutitun, the commissioner inspected the solar-powered reticulated borehole, which currently serves at least 2,000 households in the community.

At the palace of the Orungberuwa of Ode-Erinje Kingdom, the commissioner revealed that the governor had also approved the construction of a new solar-powered borehole for the Erinje community.

“The governor has approved the construction of a solar-powered borehole, further reinforcing his commitment to safeguarding the health of the people of Ondo State,” he added.

Chiefs in the community, including Chief Aiyeniyi, expressed their unwavering support for the governor and promised that public facilities would be properly maintained when completed.

Additionally, the Halu of Aye Kingdom, Oba Williams Akinmusayo Akinlade, was informed about the approved solar-powered borehole project for his community.

The commissioner noted that this effort aligns with the state government’s broader goal of ensuring the health and well-being of its citizens through improved water infrastructure.
