A 25-year-old man, Victor Ugo, was arraigned before the Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Monday over the alleged stealing of N4,203,500.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, was charged for allegedly stealing the money, a property of GK Apartments Ltd., Asaba, through his FCMB account number 4910944617, with the name Patience Nwanfufe.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The prosecutor, Susan John, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 12 on Anwai Road, near the Ibori Golf Club area.

Ms John said the offence contravened sections 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C21, Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

The magistrate, Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant N1 million bail, with two sureties in like sum.

Ms Anumodu said both sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be related to the defendant.

She said the sureties must also provide two passport photographs, electricity bills, and means of identification.

The magistrate adjourned the case until October 29 for a definite hearing.
