In a pivotal political shift, Erelu Gbemisola Susan Shekoni-Alabi, former Deputy Governor Designate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement signed by Olabode Oloruntoba, noted that announcement was made during Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa’s campaign tour in Okeagbe, where she received a warm welcome from the Governor and the State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin.

The event was attended by prominent party leaders, including Chief Olusola Oke, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabintan, Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla, Hon. Fatai Atere, Hon. Obanla Kehinde, Hon. Ayodele Akande, Hon. Ojo Akeju, and Erelu Yemi Ajonibode, among others.

Ambassador Shekoni-Alabi’s defection is seen as a significant boost to Governor Ayedatiwa’s re-election bid.

She credited her transition to the APC to the influence of Hon. Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, and Asiwaju Olumuyiwa Asagunla.

With an impressive track record and a strong network of supporters, Ambassador Shekoni-Alabi is expected to play a crucial role in rallying support for Governor Ayedatiwa’s campaign.

Her move to the APC highlights the party’s inclusive and progressive ideology, which continues to attract influential figures from various political backgrounds.

As the APC prepares for the upcoming elections, this strategic defection signifies the party’s growing momentum and its commitment to good governance and sustainable development in Ondo State.
