The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted airstrikes that eliminated several terrorists in a coordinated mission to support power restoration efforts in Kaduna and other northwestern states, according to a statement by Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information.

The operation, carried out on November 1, targeted terrorist camps deep within Alawa Forest in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area. The mission was part of a broader effort to secure power infrastructure and facilitate uninterrupted progress in restoring electricity to affected areas.

Akinboyewa noted that the strikes followed extensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which confirmed that terrorist fighters were gathering to disrupt power restoration activities. Acting promptly on the intelligence, NAF executed a precise airstrike to neutralize the threat.

“Overhead the target area, NAF crews observed and engaged the terrorists, successfully neutralizing several fighters and destroying their logistics with accurate firepower,” Akinboyewa said. He added that NAF has also increased armed reconnaissance along critical power lines from Shiroro Lake to Damba, ensuring airspace control to prevent any interference in the restoration efforts.

The sustained mission, he said, highlights NAF’s commitment to work alongside other security agencies to protect critical infrastructure and ensure the swift restoration of essential services for Kaduna and neighboring states.
