Tinubu on right track, will secure second term – Doyin Okupe

Doyin Okupe, former director-general of the Obi/Datti presidential campaign, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, asserting that the president is moving in the right direction.

In an interview with Channels Television on Monday night, monitored by Peoples Gazette, Okupe stated that some Nigerians are being unfair in their criticism of the president. “Tinubu is doing exceedingly well and will do even better,” Okupe said. “He needs understanding, not undermining.”

Okupe emphasized that the challenges Nigeria faces are necessary to prevent national collapse, adding, “If this gentleman is given understanding, he will do better. Bola Tinubu will fix this nation. Take that to the bank.”

President Tinubu has faced significant backlash over economic policies that have led to hardships for Nigerians. However, Okupe believes that if Tinubu resolves pressing issues like fuel and food crises, he will have strong support for a second term in 2027.

“Nigerians are reasonable, sensible people, not demanding too much from their leaders,” Okupe said. “If Tinubu addresses these challenges, people will take to the streets and say, ‘It’s Bola or nobody.’”
