2027: North-Central APC Backs Tinubu’s Second Term Bid
The North-Central Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, praising his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, security, and economic reforms.
In a statement released after a meeting in Abuja, the Forum, chaired by Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, highlighted the benefits the North-Central region has received under Tinubu’s leadership. They claimed that no administration since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999 has prioritized the region as much as Tinubu’s.
The endorsement comes despite resistance from the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and its youth wing, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), which have criticized Tinubu’s policies and signaled their preference for a northern candidate in 2027.
The APC Forum expressed optimism about the President’s ability to address Nigeria’s economic challenges, pointing to early signs of recovery.
“The economic policies introduced by President Tinubu are already yielding results,” the statement read. “The Naira is strengthening in the foreign exchange market, oil production has improved, and foreign reserves are rising. His reforms in the petroleum sector have eliminated fuel scarcity, and we are confident that, over time, the cost of petroleum products will decrease, reversing inflation and stabilizing the economy.”
The group also commended Tinubu’s strides in tackling insecurity and making strategic appointments, which they believe have contributed to national progress.
“President Tinubu’s bold leadership has brought significant benefits to the North-Central region and Nigeria as a whole,” the Forum stated. “We urge all Nigerians to support his administration for a second term to consolidate on these gains and deepen the ongoing reforms.”
The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to Tinubu’s re-election campaign, promising to rally support across the North-Central region as they did in 2023.
“We stand firmly behind President Tinubu and are ready to work tirelessly for his re-election in 2027. With his continued leadership, we believe Nigeria will achieve greater prosperity,” the statement concluded.
